***CLINIC SERVICES UPDATE***

Island Sexual Health would like to thank you for your patience as we continue to gradually return to in person care. We understand that these are challenging times as we all try to balance the health and safety of our community with the need to return to full and healthy living. What this looks like varies from person to person and from business to business. The current service model at Island Sexual Health (virtual visits, limited in-person care) is based on the guidelines for health care providers that we have received from the Provincial Health Officer, Worksafe BC, and the Doctors of BC. We look forward to increasing our service levels as soon as is recommended by these authorities.

Please see below for information on appointments and supply/medication pick up.

Appointments

  1. We require all (new and returning) clients to call us at 250-592-3479 or use our online portal to book an initial assessment appointment with a nurse or doctor. We are currently initially assessing all clients via phone or video appointment to develop a personalized healthcare plan.
  2. If you’ve been told it’s necessary for you to follow up with our clinic for an additional appointment for examination, etc.,  please call us 250-592-3479 to book a second in-clinic appointment for you.  **If you have been seen by phone/video by one of our doctors since March 16, 2020 and were told that you need an exam, we now have availability for in-person appointments – please call us directly 250-592-3479 to book.**
  3. If we have booked an in-clinic follow-up appointment with you; we require you to wear a mask for your protection for your entire visit. If you do not have one; you can find instructions to make a homemade mask here or we will provide one for you to wear during your time in our clinic. We are committed to your safety and are working within our Worksafe BC plan to ensure your visit to our clinic is as comfortable as possible

Supply/Medication Pick Up

  1. You are welcome to pick up supplies/medications at our Quadra Street clinic Monday- Friday between 9 am and 4 pm.
  2. Please follow the instructions posted on the outside of our clinic when you arrive. We are currently closed Saturday and Sunday.

]]> Changes to Our Prescription Pick Up Process https://ishs.docu.li/2018/01/changes-to-our-prescription-pick-up-process/ Tue, 16 Jan 2018 00:53:31 +0000 https://ishs.docu.li/?p=6875 Effective immediately, each time a current client visits any of our clinics to purchase/pick up birth control (prescribed by us as we do not accept outside prescriptions) will be asked to complete a contraception pickup assessment form which will be reviewed by a nurse.

Additionally, your medication will be dispensed directly to you by a clinic nurse, who will be available to answer any questions or concerns you have about your medication.

If you are having a friend, partner or family member pick up your medication, we request that you be available to complete a quick phone assessment with the nurse at the time of pick up – because this can be difficult to coordinate, we strongly encourage clients to pick up their own birth control whenever possible. If you would like to fill out the assessment ahead of time, you are welcome to print it off and bring it along for pick up to expedite the process. As a result of this new process, you may need to wait 15-20 minutes to pick up your medication; this should be no longer than the wait you would experience if you were to purchase your medication from a pharmacy.

We acknowledge that this change will be inconvenient for some clients, and we are grateful for your patience as we navigate this transition. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

This change applies to both our appointment hours and Frisky Business product sales. We remain open on Thursday evenings until 8pm for our clients who prefer or require evening appointments.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Effective January 24th, 2018; our Quadra Street Clinic will be changing our Wednesday hours to 9-5pm due to a physician shortage. Those who wish to access an evening appointment are still welcome to book an appt on Thursday evenings.
