Important Update to Clinic Services https://ishs.docu.li/2020/05/important-update-to-clinic-services/ Fri, 22 May 2020 17:03:45 +0000 https://ishs.docu.li/?p=7660 An attention sign***CLINIC SERVICES UPDATE***

Please see below for information on appointments and supply/medication pick up.

***CLINIC SERVICES UPDATE***

Island Sexual Health would like to thank you for your patience as we continue to gradually return to in person care. We understand that these are challenging times as we all try to balance the health and safety of our community with the need to return to full and healthy living. What this looks like varies from person to person and from business to business. The current service model at Island Sexual Health (virtual visits, limited in-person care) is based on the guidelines for health care providers that we have received from the Provincial Health Officer, Worksafe BC, and the Doctors of BC. We look forward to increasing our service levels as soon as is recommended by these authorities.

Please see below for information on appointments and supply/medication pick up.

Appointments

  1. We require all (new and returning) clients to call us at 250-592-3479 or use our online portal to book an initial assessment appointment with a nurse or doctor. We are currently initially assessing all clients via phone or video appointment to develop a personalized healthcare plan.
  2. If you’ve been told it’s necessary for you to follow up with our clinic for an additional appointment for examination, etc.,  please call us 250-592-3479 to book a second in-clinic appointment for you.  **If you have been seen by phone/video by one of our doctors since March 16, 2020 and were told that you need an exam, we now have availability for in-person appointments – please call us directly 250-592-3479 to book.**
  3. If we have booked an in-clinic follow-up appointment with you; we require you to wear a mask for your protection for your entire visit. If you do not have one; you can find instructions to make a homemade mask here or we will provide one for you to wear during your time in our clinic. We are committed to your safety and are working within our Worksafe BC plan to ensure your visit to our clinic is as comfortable as possible

Supply/Medication Pick Up

  1. You are welcome to pick up supplies/medications at our Quadra Street clinic Monday- Friday between 9 am and 4 pm.
  2. Please follow the instructions posted on the outside of our clinic when you arrive. We are currently closed Saturday and Sunday.

We will continue to post all updates on this page as well as on our facebook, instagram and twitter pages.

Text Line for Sexual Health Questions:

Our confidential texting line is still available 250-812-9374 for any sexual health questions. Please note this line is for general sexuality questions not medical advice.

Our satellite clinics (Camosun, Tsawout and Royal Bay) are CLOSED and clients of these locations are asked to call our main clinic location at 250-592-3479 to access supplies/service.

We appreciate your patience and support as we support your sexual health care needs in the safest ways possible.

Sexuality Book List for Adults https://ishs.docu.li/2017/08/sexuality-book-list-for-adults/ Tue, 29 Aug 2017 23:20:49 +0000 https://ishs.docu.li/?p=6798  Adult Reading List (PDF)

As a sexual health organization, we often get asked to recommend books. The following books are a collection of the books we like and/or have been suggested to us. This is not by any means a perfect, exhaustive or prescriptive list and naturally each resource will hold more or less value depending on the reader. We encourage you to spend time exploring the many options and find those which work best for you and your needs. Of course, if you have some must reads to add, please send them our way!

In Victoria, we are so lucky to have a great library service and amazing booksellers where you will find many of these titles in store or be special order: Bolen Books, Munro’s Books, Russell Books, Tanner’s Books, and Ivy’s Bookshop and of course the usual online retailers as well.
